Child Boards Post Count

Hello. The posts in my child boards are not being displayed on the main screen's post count. For example, if the parent board has a topic, that post count will be displayed on the main screen, but the child board's posts are not reflected on the main screen so members don't know there are new posts in the child board unless they click on it. Is there something I need to update/change? Thanks.
