Certain Users Only Mod:
Scenario 1:
I have a roleplaying forum in which users may create a planning thread. in the planning thread, users may specify which other users may join, based on pre-defined applications. Then, the user creates a new thread. There a couple of things he might want to do:

  • Make the thread viewable ONLY to Admins (and/or), Mods, and those he specified
  • Make the thread viewable to everyone, but only those he specifies may join (Admins and Mods are exempt!)
  • Make the thread viewable to everyone, but only he, and Admins/Mods, may reply
  • Make the thread viewable to ONLY Admins/Mods and him, and (of course) only he and the staff(admin/mod) may reply
Scenario 2:
A user(or admin/mod) on my forums wants to post a poll and topic. He might want to do one of the following:

  • Allow all users to reply/vote
  • Allow all users to reply, but only certain ones may vote
  • Allow all users to vote, but only certain ones reply
  • Allow only himself reply/vote
  • Allow only himself to view poll RESULTS (admins/mods are able to, also!)
NOTE: Every time I said 'him' or 'himself' or 'he'(etc.) add a 'her' 'herself' or 'she'(etc.) to the end (that way I dont sound sexist!

This would be a MUCH more complicated script to make than I have the ability to do. If someone dares to try this, I would thank him/her a lot, and maybe make him/her an admin on my board.

Database Mod:
Senario 1:
On my forums, someone is looking for a (lets say...) certain skin (for their own forums). They want to be able to:

  • Use the Search Database function (with a drop-down letting them choose which database [in this one, it's Skins] :))
  • Have the option for Advanced Search
  • Have skins ordered by relevence to the search
  • Be able to see a preview, and download, with one click!
This also would be a nice mod!

NOTE: I WILL update this, and post about it when I do!
Thanks

Kender

as far as the first mod
scenario 1: you can do this by creating a membergroup for this person

  • go to forum admin
  • manage boards
  • go to forum name
  • modify permissions
  • go to that usergroup
  • modify
  • scroll to topics
  • give all permissions you want - this will affect this board only

note, this person will not be able to add users to groups, but they will be able to lock that topic, moderate, split merge, if you chose to let them..  though they have no member group controll

[edit2]Wait! That only works for the forum... not the topics... I would have to create a whole new forum for this if I were to do that... please say another way or make the mod :P
Thanks![/edit2]

Since you seem to expect a now solution -> moving into scripting help.
