Some YaBBse Mods should be "standard"

Some useful Mods should be in the Package, and not need modded!

- Add more Smilies
- Instand Message Archive (with status if Message read)
- Customizeable Edit-time for Posts
- Allowed User / Post based Membergroups

Surfy

Grudge

I think a thread here said the smilies one would be in by default (or at least *most* of it)

Also I think many mods from SE will become defunct as there are fully incoorporated already. (In particular the permissions based ones)

I still like to express my desire to have a "add more message icons" option as standard but alas this may become my first mod for SMF if not :D
I'm only a half geek really...

klumy

I agree, these 2 mods should be standard !!

So SMF will be more competitive with other boards.

How about a more informative user profile page.

I just think of the Biography/hobby mod

not planned but it would be an easy mod to add.

I like the mod I installed just 2 days ago  ;) in YaBBSE and I would like it to be a part of the standard of SMF:
** members cannot delete or edit their messages.
If they could, a whole thread could become totally unreadable!

And I would like to have
** the "search all new messages" button in top of the board just like de YSE board had (has)
Thanks, good luck with the new project. Hope these two features become part of it, standard  :)

it's a permission. already done and incorporated. It is a board permission actually, so you can set this per board.

Thanks Groundup, great!
I guess your answer concerns my question about the "not remove or edit" question?
What about the unread messages button?

OK thanks, I will ask for it in the wanted feature list.

Hans, Grudge coded a WONDERFUL hack for me on the YSE site, look for my request in Mod Ideas.  You'll need to check both page 1 and page 2 for the mod.  It's working beautifully and my members LOVE it.

Since I haven't recieved any PMs here yet, how does that page look?  Hopefully we have moved past the "put every message on the same page" thing...

Quick, a bunch of you send me PMs!

Great!  It never seemed very logical the way it was set up before.

I think the buddy list was planned. If not, it is a new column in members containing a list of ids. You join those ids on the members table and get their names. Then you create a drop down menu from that and you have buddies :D

The instant message area is going to be redone a bit, but currently it is paginated.

MemberMap(this is my favorite of all- heck its even on the Official YaBBse page-why it was never added as a feature is beyond me!)

Hopefully at least some of these are being considered as features already. Please forgive me if I am asking for too much but I think most of these MODs are authored by members of the team so it wouldn't be a stretch- would it?

Thanks!

You'll never see a photo gallery as a standard feature.  ;)

I'm voting for Quick Reply, Whos Online, and Avatar Upload  ;)  Bookmark feature was useless on my board but I should admit it was extrimely helpful on YaBB community so I think it's worth to be included as well.
If I also may suggest it would be useful to see on this page"View forum access log" IPs of registered members converted to their membernames(like it was in times of YaBB Gold).

TheDel

While I did request the MemberMap, I was hoping for Gobalopper's version with the selectable Continents. With all due respect to either Joseph or Jeff(whichever one added the one on the main SE page)

mephisto_kur

Another vote for the Quick Reply.  Just about every software out there has this as either a feature or a mod.  I can't live without this.  If you guys don't put it in, I'll sit in a corner and babble to myself for a little while (or until the mod gets updated to work).

[Unknown]

Patience.

Access log has been removed and you can add it again with a mod.

I will never ever ever be happy with adding a photo gallery.

I also don't personally like the member map, but it might get added..

Everything will turn on and off, and if/when bookmarks are added they will be permission'd.

[Unknown] - May I ask why you dont feel a photo gallery is something that you will feel happy with?

Tony Reid

Gobalopper

Because this is forum software. A photo gallery could be a mod or a portal but there is no reason to include it in the base install.

UnDelete Mod (which is working remarkably well on my 1.5.x install)
Grudge's visual warning system.

i agree, photogallery shud be considered add-on and not included in base install.

I'd rather wait a month then that I've to install within 3 weeks a couple of updates...

At this pooint, "everyone" has a great YaBBSE 1.5.x running, without that many bugs...
So let's wait till it's done :)

Don't get me wrong, I am planning a quite intensive beta process - part of that is this very forum, which is being kept up to date with most of the recent CVS changes.

I personaly think the calendar should stay, along with the member map feature becoming standard.

the llama mod should be standard :P

I think the hunted thing should be configurable... on my forum we could set it to whoever is most hated right now.. would be awesome!

charlottezweb

I can't live without the gallery...so my forum won't switch until that's available unless I can port a new gallery into the system (which with my knowledge isn't happening anytime soon!)

But I would be extremely unhappy if the calendar was removed.
