How to center banner

How do I make the logo at the top of the board centered instead of off to the left ? and also,

The new/old posts images at the bottom, have the pics but they dont say, new post, or old post next to it, how do I put that text there beside it ?

Depends in what are you using for displaying the image .. if it is in a td, align="center" will do or putting <div align="center">

By default there should be text unless you have modified BoardIndex.template.php or the language file .. what theme are you using!
