Background image change within a template by topics

Hi

I want to have the same theme for every topic but with different backrounds.

So far I did this by installing the same theme multiple times and changed the background images in their directory, then assigned the "different" themes to the relevant topics.

I'm sure there is a more sophisticated way to do this.
Anyone can tell me pls?

Funny enough, that is how I would have done it and came into the thread with that exact suggestion in mind.  Will be interesting to see if someone else has a more efficient method.

You mean by board right? Because by topic would be alot of backgrounds..lol.

You could do something like this in index.template:

Now in case you're thinking, wtf does that mean, here is an explanation:

Using the variable "$GLOBALS['board']" we will get the ID of the current board that is being viewed. This means that with our code, style5.css will be used on board 5, for example, while a normal css file will be called when you are not viewing a board. You can simply make copies of style.css with the right changes and rename them what they need to be.

Alternatively you can hard code the background in index.template while using that variable and just changing the background image itself.

I only changed the : background-image: url(images/seeds.jpg); in the other style2.css style3.css etc.
The pictures are in the /images folder, the .css files are in the same folder where the style.css.

The site always shows the original  backround wich is declared in style.css.

Maybe I have to put the code to an other place?

Remember you'll need a style.css for every board, even if you don't want the background to change.

Ok, i fixed it.

Problem is that you didn't replace the current stylesheet link tag, you just added the code i gave you in without removing the other link tag, so the page was linking to both stylesheets...
