SMF 1.1.4

I've been having trouble with my server recently and the database went offline for around 6-8 hours.

To date I've received over 500 emails telling me "SMF database error".
And my host automatically notified me that I'd gone over hourly limits and will be reset every hour. So I am still receiving them (and no doubt, I will continue to receive them for a long while)

Dragoon helped me disable the mail function for it in Subs-Auth. (thanks again).

It appears its sending an email for every time a unique/new visitor tried to browse my forum.

Surely it should not be sending that much mail. Once would suffice, if at all.

(I'm fine to disable it in code, but maybe it would be nice for the new folk to have a setting to disable it)

When database errors occur like that SMF attempts to update the Settings.php with a time stamp of the last error that occurred. This is a attempt to stop this.
It isn't a bug. Your Settings.php isn't writable by php is all ;)
