Hi all great software you have here.
Sorry if this has been reported before.
I did do a search but nothing came up that wasn't caused by a mod.
I'm using a fresh install 1.1.4 no mods and Classic YaBB SE Theme
Spell check is enabled in admin and seems to work well.
I did notice an anomaly.
I also tested this on this site in the test area.
I am using win2K sp4 and EI 6.0.2800.1106
Steps to recreate
1 – create a new topic
2 – type in some text in subject and message body
3 – click the spell checker and answer ok to spell checking complete
4 – click a smiley
All your text gets replaced with the smiley.
Follow the 4 steps without clicking in the body of the message

Thanks for your time.

This happens here with the Simple Machines Website theme using Opera 9.25 and IE7 as well, so I don't think it's theme related. FF2 appears to be unaffected though.

To reproduce it the Spell Checker must change one or more errors in the post, and in addition to smileys, the [hr] tag and Insert Quote are also affected.

This version 2.2 beta 2 does the same thing.
To check go to the test area of this board and try it.
I am sure that it can be done using other methods.
It has something to do with coming back from a  process or window
and the cursor. Any one notice how the cursor blinks funny?

Thank you for the information. After some work I was able to get this to happen in Opera, I couldn't get it to happen in IE6 though my virtual machine. I did report the bug and note that it might be occurring in IE6 as well. For team reference the bug report is http://dev.simplemachines.org/mantis/view.php?id=1570.
