In the last few minutes these guys decided to have a go at my forum.
They don't get far, however the no. of requests can affect performance.

// Spammers/email harvesters - requested 60 pages each in less than a minute - don't obey robots
89.122.29.125
89.122.29.128
// Drug Spammers - comes back to Kroger & Co - again requested a dozen pages in a few seconds

Both are well known to ProjectHoneyPot.

SleePy

Well if they where attempting a ddos, I would suggest sending an abuse report to the host from a whois lookup.
Usually they will do something about this, other times they ignore you and not much can be done unless you want to try the network provider.

Nice.

I was going to look into Project Honey Pot with SMF myself. But if your working on something, I'll see what you come up with.
At the moment I'm detecting quite a few. Not really doing much for most of them at the moment.  Just logging them.
