Kunena Conversion freezes

I am converting from Kunena1.6 using the smf 2.0 converter.

it seems like the conversion is frozen because it just stops at this point:  it has been on recalculating forum statistics for nearly 1 hour and my forum isn't that big only 36 users and maybe 5 of the 36 are active.

any idea how to get it working correctly.  I've tried the 1.1 converter but with that, I just get a blank page.

Thanks for responding.  I  have checked the thread that you linked to . I am installing on my local server through MAMP.   AM I able to do a conversion on my local server and how would I correct  my problem this way.

"local conversion"will indeed solve your problem, just transfer your Joomla database & files to a local webserver, convert it to SMF and  transfer the converted SMF back to your host.
