How to remove reply's title
« on: July 05, 2008, 08:19:01 PM »
hai.
Im using 1.1.5 and I'm customizing a theme so it fits my needs.
I came to point that I would like to remove possibility of changing post title when replying to a thread.
For example a thread's subject is 'I like strawberries, discuss.'
Then when someone hits reply button he has editable subject field, prefilled with Re:TopicTitle (which would be 'Re: I like strawberries, discuss.' in my case).
I would like to remove option of editing it and remove 'Re: ' from prefilling. Basically then, every reply would have same subject as thread.

Anyone could assist me on what I should remove/replace/modify?:)
Thx in advance

ps. I'm going sleep now, im soooo tired :(

ps2. I forgot about another thing I would like to change yet :) actually 2 things.

1) is this possible that after writing a topic/reply and hiting 'send' button I get redirected to my just created topic/post instead of to thread index?
2) is this possible that instead of displating a date of last reply (June 28, 2008, 12:33) I could display how much time passed from last reply (for example like on this site: http://forums.d2jsp.org/index.php )

cheers

Remove "Re:" from all future replies made - Removing the "re:" from topic title on reply

how do i make it so users can come back to the topic

If I get a chance I will look into exactly how you can remove the input field for subjects when replying.

Not so sure about the time question.

Re: prefix is added while posting and harcoded in the database. It's quite hard to fix it for the past. But for the future, do this:

../Sources/Post.php

Find and delete:

Code: [Select]
$form_subject = $context['response_prefix'] . $form_subject;

Maybe there is a better way, but try this:

../Sources/BoardIndex.php

Find:

Code: [Select]
// Prepare the subject, and make sure it's not too long.
Replace:

Code: [Select]
$time = 0;
$timeh = 0;
$timem = 0;
$times= 0;

$time = time() - $row_board['posterTime'];
if($time > 60) {
$timem = $time / 60;
$timem = (int) $timem;
$times = $time % 60;
}
else
$times = $time;

if($timem > 60) {
$timeh = $timem / 60;
$timeh = (int) $timeh;
$timem = $timem % 60;
}
$time = (!empty($timeh) ? $timeh . 'H ' : '') . (!empty($timem) ? $timem . 'M ' : '') . $times . 'S';

// Prepare the subject, and make sure it's not too long.

Find:

Code: [Select]
'timestamp' => forum_time(true, $row_board['posterTime']),
Replace:

Code: [Select]
'timestamp' => forum_time(true, $row_board['posterTime']),
'timebefore' => $time,

../Themes/your_theme/BoardIndex.template.php

Find:

Code: [Select]
$board['last_post']['time']
Replace:

Code: [Select]
$board['last_post']['timebefore']

wow ty SiNaN for help
the thing is that it seems the hour and minute counter is broken, it gives 337596H 26M 6S just after the topic is posted (seconds work fine, I checked it)

No. Unfortunately it works perfect for me. Can you attach your edited BoardIndex.php file and give a link to your forum?

Quite interesting. Now it works, isn't it?

If you want, we can add the time offset too. It just gets the server time like this.

well actually I plan to move the site on another server in some time, it would be great if you could add time offset to be working :)

Opps, sorry. We do not need offset here. Both actually both are server times. :)

well there is still an issue
If I create new topic, the time gets corrupted:

// some old topic from join us category
» Re: asdsddas
By Easy
54minutes 14seconds

//freshly made topic (just a seconds ago) from other category
» Another random topic
By Easy
54minutes 10seconds

And when I refresh site it is still corrupted but when i relog it fixes itself up sometimes and sometimes not

I got it. :) Add this to the top of the codes for the first change in BoardIndex.php:

Code: [Select]
$time = 0;
$timeh = 0;
$timem = 0;
$times= 0;

I've fixed the message above.

nice, this one fixed the problem :)
btw, that time offset mod which you wrote was actually working well, it used the server time and added as many hours as i had put in the Offset field

again, thanks you for your help :)
