I would like users to be able to ban themselves for a specified period of time. This is useful for those users that need to get homework done but can't drag themselves away from a forum. I get users at my forum that ask me to ban them until they're done their homework, and it's a bit too much work to do that. :P Feel free to say no, I'll just make it a mod if you do. :P

Sadly, I know so very many people who need this :P.

Thanks for the show of support. ;)

Tyris

yeah... but would people really use it..?
I know I -should- ban myself from many forums coz of exams... but I wouldn't.
then also the problem is when they do ban themselves... and start suffering withdrawl.. they might email the admin to get em unbanned...

Spaceman-Spiff

if you cant have self control, might as well just disconnect your internet or give your keyboard and mouse to your neightbour till the end of your exam/hw:P

bostasp

Oh dear... just Oh dear...

I would use it purely to see how amusing it was once, then not use it again

Well interesting but oh my you could get people banning themselves for weeks by accident, oh the headache, oh the suffering, oh the....

Well you get the idea :)

bostasp

Could be used when someone is shouting "You banned me! Why the <insert profanties here> did you ban me?" -

"You banned yourself, what you on about?"

James Woodcock

Well of all the features I would like adding, this is not one of them ;)

charlottezweb

Does seem like it should be very "back-burner."  They just need to unplug their pc if that's the case.

Owdy

please, make this as MOD, not standard thing...

another useless feature request, no offence ;) People need some self-discipline

They could always just take a pair of wire cutters and cut the ethernet cable in half :D

I'd go crazy if I ever did that to my self.  I'd end up sitting in a corner rolled up in a ball rocking back and forth...

Coming soon!

Tyris

I second that motion to curl up in the corner and rock back and forth if ever my parents decide to go ahead with their plan to cut the internet cables.

bostasp

...I'm sure I have enough ethernet cables and offcuts arround to keep me going.  If it was cut, I'd got to B&Q and buy myself one of those tools that puts the RJ45 on the end ;)

Tyris

hmmm... true... my parents used to take the TV cable when I was young.. till they realised I could build my own with a few coat hangers ;)

Hmmm - just remembered I use a laptop with wireless ethernet, so cutting the cable won't work for me either:P.  Plus, I also have plenty of spare cables and the tool to put the ends on :-\

And to make things worse, we have that counter at the top that reminds me howmany hours of my life I spend surfing this forum >:(

bostasp

Heh, my parents haven't tired anything with broadband yet...  They pulled the wire out when we had dialup, but still
