That's what I mean... some people will want it to work, others won't. No-one wants to make something that's so divisive.

You could, I guess, ask for 'optional compatibility' in the hopes that someone is willing to write one version that can do both, but seriously, I've been around here for years - and the nearest it's ever come to anything like that is when I asked around for opinions for doing something similar (like vBookie/Sportsbook), and I suggested for the size of the mod (without SMF Shop compatibility), I'd be making it a paid mod for $25 a sale, which I thought was fair... all I got for it was abuse, demands that it should be free etc.

That was over 3 years ago, and no-one's mentioned doing it since to my knowledge.

$25 <- I'd pay that in a heartbeat! I'd be willing to pay more (an extra $50 easily) for a lottery system as well and ability to integrate with the shop's currency!

Heck, if I won the Lotto 6/49 tonight, I'd be willing to pay for the development myself! :D

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead but has there been any progress on a sports betting mod for SMF?  I run a soccer forum and a killer feature would be a score prediction system for it.  If there was a way to score the correct guesses and have a league table it would be amazing!  I wouldn't mind paying for it.

On a side note - I really do feel that having some sort of currency system in place would help draw people in to the forum.  Every iOS app and android app has some sort of feature where you can buy credits and then spend them on various things.  I know people have tried and failed at this in the past but I think it's because the implementation has been poor, not the idea.  Sports betting, gambling, shopping, badges displayed next to the name.  If a really good currency system was built into SMF then it would provide an excellent framework for all these things to be added on top.

Hand on heart, I really think SMF is missing a trick here.

The currency system isn't a problem, having a decent place to spend it is. There is a shop mod but I don't know how good it is at providing such things.

The other thing is, it really is not a huge feature for the majority of forums to have a currency system. It's a minority thing at best.

Not to mention the shop mod hasn't been updated for a while. I think Daniel15 wanted to hand it off to someone else to develop.

And he did hand it off to someone else.

I will soon be done with this gallery and probably looking for more paid projects to take on, a shop mod isn't out of the realms of possibility but I need to know that it's worth my time to build (as it is more complex than most people realise, especially in terms of maintenance and support)

I may use the shop at my company's website, but it's still up in the air. Got a few more things to consider first.

LOL! Now that's funny, but maybe a good idea.

I find it unlikely that the trademark holders would approve (yes, SMF is a registered trademark)
