Hiding what's inside a Board

On my site, I have several Categories.  In one, I have a board called Political.  I want members to see this board, but NOT be able to see what's inside of it.  This way, they can request membership to it.  If they can't see it is there, how will they know?

It looks like this:

Category 1
    Fun Stuff
    Political
          Dem
          Rep
          Ind
    Movies

I want them to see everything there.  I want them to see the descriptions, but as far as the political board, they need to request permission to enter..  How do I do this?   

I have tried playing with settings, but I can either make it so it's accessible to everyone (they can all see it, and inside it, or I can make it accessible to the Political membergroup only.  This is how it should be... but still visible to everyone.   

I think part of the problem is the terminology..  Accessible means openable.. (yeah, I know, not a word.)  I think there needs to be 2 settings for a board.   Viewable (the name and description) and accessible (can be opened and seen inside.)

I can't make this board public yet because I can't get it to bee seen but not opened...  Any help appreciated.. 

I have played with settings for who could access it (only setting like that available) and settings for post only, read only, etc....

When I set a board as View Only, people can see in it, but can't post anything.. 

What I need is for them to see the board layout inside the Category.  They can request membership to that area.  Once they have membership, they need to be able to see inside the boards in the category and post messages.. 

I am apparently NOT getting the right combination of privs set up...  Cause nothing is allowing me to do this..

This would be A-1 perfect if instead of taking you to login/register, it took you to Request access.  Where they could request access to those boards..  Hmmm...  Maybe I can put a sticky with a link to the request group access.. but if what i read is correct, if someone clicks a link to open a board, it auto takes them to the login/register page..  That's a bit annoying.. hehe

Ok.. I guess what I need exactly is this:

A normal member needs to be able to open a board.  NOT see any posts that already exist in that board.  But, be able to post their own message in that board.

That's what I need..  If a message is posted by any other user, they can't see it.  ONLY their own messages are visable..

Can this be done?

View Any Topics permission?

The View Any Topic Permission Mod adds an additional permission that can be applied to any board.  When enabled (the default setting), the board will act as normal.  That is, the user group can 'view any topic'.  When disabled, users in that group will only be able to see topics in that board that they started (i.e. their own topics), or topics that have been stickied.

does look but no read, means that members only see the topic?

what packages do i need to be like this:
members can see inside topics/threads but only some of post..the rest of the post they must register to see/look
