Sir McDuck

I'm not sure if someone has already suggested these (18 pages of suggestion topics :P) but I'm just wondering which is/will be better, phpBB2 or SMF. phpBB2 has some very good features that YaBB SE doesn't have.
So here are my suggestions.

1. Maximum width and height for avatars
2. Easy way to manage smilies and YaBBCodes (I want to get rid of those stupid glow and shadow effects)
3. YaBBCode tags for PHP with syntax coloring (mod?)
Edit: Already working?
//code

4.  Easy way to manage navigation bar (own links etc.)
5. More stats
6. Possibility to view all the IP's that one user has used
7. Very detailed user permissions for each board (example in phpBB2 demo: hxxp:www.phpbb.com/admin_demo/admin_forumauth.htm [nonactive])
8. Wildcards (*) for word censors
9. RSS feeds

1. I think already implimented.
2. They say it will be easy to do just about anything with the brand new theme system.
3. Already implimented.
4. I'm not sure what you mean, but it will probably be easy to do with the new theme system.
5. There's a ton right now. What other sorts of things were you looking for?
6. I think already implimented.
7. There's a new permissions system in SMF. I think it will be able to do that.
8. Already implmented. Even in yaBB SE.
9. I'm not sure.

1. In there.
2. Smileys are managable, I'll be making a mod to remove shadow and glow. (however good the template system may be and IS, it can't do everything.)
3. Yes, PHP is higlighed in [ php ] tags and [ code ]<?php.
4. Working on it, brainstorming ways to make it more managable.
5. Already have some more, what did you have in mind?
6. Oh yeah, baby.  Implemented.
7. You call that advanced?  What a joke - SMF has a much more powerful one.  And more permissions.
8. Actually... uhh... this was... heh... removed.  But, I'm going to be messing with censoring in just a bit, so I'll keep that in mind ;).
9. Already in there, oh wonderous they are ;). (search for rss.)

That was actually one thing I really did like about YaPP.  I thought the menu system was very easy to use and to understand while also being quite flexable.

Yup, and LSP/Enigma made that Menu Manager even better. We're probably going to do a Block Manager with similar features for our next release. :D

Why didnt you like it? It was easy, quick, customizable and made sense, and was a lot better than finding it in the code

Whatever happened to Eric, anyway?

He combined his version of YaPP with PfaBB to help make Enigma at Lunabyte here, now he's working on his own CMS/Portal and Forum here xbb
