Can somebody PLEASE tell me how it would be possible to install these amazing forums on hxxp:000webhost.com [nonactive]. It would be my dream if I could...

pope and young

Haven't you ran a website before? I ask because your question is kinda vague.
You should just be able to upload the .zip file to your root folder, unarchive it to the root directory, then in your browser just go to your domain and install it.

They ask about FTP connections which are hard! O-O

Snorki!  I'm Elochai from FP!
They have an autoinstaller.

It's almost impossible to do it without, as the files don't decompress using their crappy "Another File Manager"

TheDisturbedOne

Both can install packages.  I used 000 to test my MOD (and my future MODs).

brandonmccoy

not really you may have used there paid service
but ive made several accounts on there to test smf
and no packages can be installed by uploading

I haven't paid them.  You may have to check the permissions for the packages folder.

Snorki

I can't do paid hosting, does anybody mind helping me set up a forums with 000 hosting please?

Snorki

Ugh.. this stuff is too complicated. Do you have AIM Elochai?

aishaweb

Why do you want the forum setup?

If its just to play with yourself, try using wampserver.

If you want to go online with it to show off to your friends, try smfforfree

Uploading the files isn't really that hard.  I would suggest that you go with a better host, first.  Since 000 uses a modified version of cP, it may be different.
I would say try Trap17.

I have MSN

Hey Snorki, it is very easy to install! I manually installed mine [I use 000webhost] but just go to your Cpanel and look for "Fantastico Autoinstaller" click on it, and on the next page scroll down to SMF, and select new installation, and it will do it automatically for you.  :)

swtdivalove

Be careful about using Fantastico... It doesn't always work.

I also use 000webhost. I've tried to install using webinstall, but it didn't work at all. I suggest you try to download smf compressed installer  to your local computer then upload it through archives upload to your 000webhost.

From CPanel, choose File Manager (with blue icon one),  - wait - go to your public.html directory (or whatever dir you will place your smf). - wait- Click upload box, - wait - look at the upper right side, (Archives (zip, tar, tgz, gz)), click choose, and pick you file from your computer. Then click on the green tick and wait.

about one minute or so later, if everything is OK, then go directly to your web address. There you should see an smf installer page.

now you should open Cpanel (in separated Tab or page) and click on "View FTP Details" icon (next left to file manager).
There you'll find all FTP info you need. Don't leave the page. you need to copy the info to your installation page.

change all the info in the form acording to info you find in "FTP Login and Upload Details" page

now you should open Cpanel (in separated Tab or page) and click on MySQL.
If you still have not made any database, make one now.
Don't leave the page. you need some infos from tha page (database name, user, and host) to fill in the form in "MySQL Sever setting" section.

I think you could proceed with your installation now.

it did work for me (I use free service)

Hope you enjoy!
