Small improvement added into 1.1:
Selects all text from search text field when field is selected and if field has "Search this topic" or "Search this board" text

Really nice MOD.

My only concern is the screen space consumed.  Any chance you could combine all three searches to one field and use a radio button to select, such as:

Search: [___________] ()Site ()Board ()Topic [Search]

Thanks again for a really good MOD.

Ummmm... did you really test this mod or did you just check the screen shot?

If you just checked the screen shot, I believe you got the wrong impression.

This mod was made because users of my forum complained that the search is not always searching from whole forum.

If you are browsing a board (meaning page like this http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?board=59.0 ) and do the search with upper right hand corner in default theme, then the search is made only to the selected board's messages. This mod adds "Search this board" text into the search field in this case, so that user knows that the search does not search whole forum.

If you are browsing a topic (meaning page like this http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=292506.0 ) and do the search with upper right hand corner in default theme, then the search is made only to the selected topic. This mod adds "Search this topic" text into the search field in this case, so that user knows that the search does not search whole forum.

I have installed it but it doesn't appear. I see only the default search box.
Do I have to enable it from somewhere?

Thanx!

Have you check the search box when you are at board listing (like this: http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?board=59.0 ) and in topic (like this http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=292506.0 )

And the mod is really installed?
Does your index.template.php has this string "Search_text_" (4 locations)
and index.english.php has the same string twice?

Eyesman

Yes!
The index.template.php has "Search_text_"  in 4 locations and index.english.php has the same string twice!

I have no idea why it is not working in your forum. Maybe some other mod prevents it working?

You can see this forum to see how it should work:
http://www.tapworld.net/forum/
Forum's default language is Finnish. "Etsi tältä alueelta" means "search this board" and "Etsi tästä aiheesta" means "search this topic".

is there a way to implement this on other themes?

Yes.

I would suggest you to familiarize how mods are created. Then investigate what this mod does (see install.xml file) and then do the same changes to your theme.

looks like i have some learning to do. any place in particular i should start my research?
