I really wanted to use this mod, but it is not working for me as it installed correctly but not showing things that have not been read as I tested it with one of my staff.  I was looking at your image you posted and you have a sent message but in our forum it looks like this

I installed this on my 1.1.8 forum and it installs correctly with no errors. There is one thing that isn't working right for me. The first thing I visit my inbox it automatically changes every message to read. I sent about a dozen messages to my test account and the icon shows unread in my outbox. I login to my test account on another computer, I get the "you have new messages" notification and right when I hit my inbox every single message is shown as read. This of course is reflected on the account that sent the messages so it tells the sender they were read when they may not have been. Is this fixable somehow because this mod is highly requested?

This is a great module!!

However, the "unread" icon says "read" when the mouse hovers above it.

Would be nice if a switch allowed only Admins and moderators have this feature.

I have think understood correctly, and yes, you're right.

I think that this you say is the same thing happens to mnh8483.

When you go to read the PMs in SMF 1.1.X, shows you a page with all the PMS (or 10 or 20, I don't remember), then all was marked as read. And really you will going to read just one.

In SMF 2, it is possible to change this mode of view, and, for example, put a single view of PM. This MOD is more useful in SMF 2.

Initially I was not going to make this mod for SMF 1.1.X, but I thought it would be requested, and also ... isn't bad.

Why? because at least the MOD tells you if the person has come to see their page PM's.

Solve this, is in the hands of another MOD. And it is View Single PM, and you can read this comment of Eliana Tamerin.

LOL, I did not realize that. I will put how to change it more later.

Looks like a real handy mod.

I would also request an option to restrict to certain membergroups or at least Admins only.  If I have to send a moderating PM to a member, it's good to know if it was read or discarded without reading.

Grazie,

Cal

I've installed this mod on my default 1.1.8 forum.  And it works perfectly!  My forum members and I have been hoping for a mod like this.  And we love it!! Great job!!

I added the Single PM mod and I still have the same issue where when I hit my inbox everything automatically shows as read. I'm keeping the mod though because it's still way better than the old way so I'd like to say thanks for the mod.

vlindertje

I just install the mod, but i don't see any different :-\
I use smf 2.0 rc1 default theme

I check it out to send some one a pm, but everything is still the same.
no errors in the logs

single pm mod i cannot install, because its not for smf 2.0 rc1

What i can do that it will be works?

kyle007

Wow, works like a charm on my 1.1.8... I've been waiting this mod for a long time... Thanks a bunch !

Yes, i can add this feature, it isn't complicated.

I don't know is, What image use to that case?, i don't have much imagination to imagine an image that says "you wouldn't know if it is read or unread."

If i use the image of "message unreaded" it could cause confusion; if i use the image "message readed" definitely cause confusion.

Should i use the image it was before? Does anyone have a better idea?

Don't work?

How? Can you not see the new icons?. are show all messages as read? In what way does not work?

PD: "Single PM" is only for SMF 1.1.X, in SMF 2 isn't necessary.

It seems like a very usefull mod and i really hope i get it work finally  :-\

I don't see new icons. All messages are on read, but with the old images.  I see no different when i install the mod or i don't have this mod.

I hope i explain it now right that you understand it  :)

Ok, i understand.

Did the MOD was installed without problems?

Have you saw if there have been changes in the PersonalMessage.template.php?

Can you give me usertest and passtest?

Kat-2

It is not working properly for me either. Installed just fine. But, it shows all messages in the Inbox already as read.

How can that be fixed?

Yes, sure.

Is this "problem"? or other? ::)

floydpink

Nice mod.
Two small problems: 1. The ALT text is the same for Read and Unread images 2. No Title text is displayed on_mouseover.
Here's the fix:
Themes\default\languages\PersonalMessage.english.php
Find:$txt['pm_read'] = 'Read';

Add After:$txt['pm_noread'] = 'Not Read';

Themes\default\PersonalMessage.template.php
Find: <td align="center" width="2%">', $message['is_replied_to'] ? '<img src="' . $settings['images_url'] . '/icons/pm_replied2.gif" style="margin-right: 4px;" alt="' . $txt['pm_replied'] . '" />' : '<img src="' . $settings['images_url'] . '/icons/'. ($message['is_read'] ? 'pm_readed' : 'pm_noreaded') . '.gif" style="margin-right: 4px;" alt="' . $txt['pm_read'] . '" />', '</td>

Replace with: <td align="center" width="2%">', $message['is_replied_to'] ? '<img src="' . $settings['images_url'] . '/icons/pm_replied2.gif" style="margin-right: 4px;" alt="' . $txt['pm_replied'] . '" title="' . $txt['pm_replied'] . '" />' : '<img src="' . $settings['images_url'] . '/icons/'. ($message['is_read'] ? 'pm_readed' : 'pm_noreaded') . '.gif" style="margin-right: 4px;" alt="' . ($message['is_read'] ? $txt['pm_read'] : $txt['pm_noread']) . '" title="' . ($message['is_read'] ? $txt['pm_read'] : $txt['pm_noread']) . '" />', '</td>

1. The ALT text is the same for Read and Unread images

Quote from: PerryM on February 12, 2009, 02:49:48 PM
However, the "unread" icon says "read" when the mouse hovers above it.

I've been thinking about this, and I think it has never been wrong (although I can change it to your liking).

The current text is: "Read".
It's different to: "Readed" or "Unread".

So I think the current wording isn't wrong. But, "I can change it to your liking".

Quote from: floydpink on February 26, 2009, 07:06:49 AM
2. No Title text is displayed on_mouseover.

Yes, because, without the MOD neither there is title text.

But also, i can add this if you prefer.

Any suggestions? if left to my taste, maybe don't like  O:)

Cal O'Shaw

I'll make mention that there is no word in American English as "readed".

We use the same word spelling but pronounce it differently depending on how it is used, as in:

I will READ your PM later. (Pronounced like the word REED)
I READ your PM yesterday (pronounced like the word RED)

Hope this helps,

Cal
