Aloha people!

As this should be my first post(?), I want to
tell you, or many of the former YaBB SE users,
that I already was a user and fan of YaBB SE,
called 'Yabby', if I can remember correctly. :P

My friend, Mace, was also the one who won
the YaBB SE logo/mascot contest with his YaBBy Bot.

However ...

I wanted to tell the developers and owners of
Simple Machines, that your general website layout
looks a bit to gray and plain. It's not very
sympathic to me. Just wanted to give some
feedback telling you about this.

Bring some color into this! Please! Thanks! ;)

I like it... ;) There are more colorful themes available of course, but this site is meant for everyone - no matter what taste, so its just right.

You're a SM designer, you must like it, more or the less. :P

Yeah, there are more themes, but that's just available
for the forum software, not for the whole site.

But, yes. It's just my oppinion.

I also agree that the site looks ok as it is - it shows that it's impartial (ie not in favour of anyone)

I think we are starting to understand why SMF will never stagnate now!!

Me either..I think someone snatched it.  :o ;D

I don't like it, too. It doesn't represent the powerful, "easy-to-use" forum "we" created. :(

But I hope there'll be something different in the future.

I concur.  I really do.  It is also more business-like and that is a good thing.

I want an allowance too.  Who does a person have to sleep with to manage that?  j/k.

I just hate the purple quote boxes with the tiny text, and the drab shade of blue used in the buttons. Just me, I suppose.

That's the default theme, not the site theme.  Anyway, why not use the classic theme then :P?

Louis (CSpotkill)

I knew you'd say that :P But why have such an ugly theme as default for every SMF installation? (No offence meant to whoever made it, of course. It does have some nice elements.)

Besides, I don't use the classic theme because I desperately need the Show new replies to your posts. link, or I drown in the confusion. (My forums are rather low traffic, only about 500 people visit each day, 20 thousand hits max. So I'm still trying to figure out how to work with such volume. Ay yai yai ... )

Edit: And before you say it, yes, I know I can bookmark the link. But I'm lazy :p

I suppose the default layout is because they don't want the coperate blue colour that most forums take, blue is an overused colour and red/green aren't really colours that are neutral so I guess they found a great theme that is neutral and IMO it looks great.

I love this theme more than any other :P
It's nice and simple, and it does its job. It also gives easy access to other site areas :D

I still really like this site's default theme. Its simple and makes things easy on the eyes.

I have grown to recognize the Simple Machines site by how it looks.  People would become confused (as stupid as it sounds) and they would loose some people.

My first post - just had to say I find the whole place *very* attractive.! I've not installed it onsite yet... still making sure there are no issues I might need to iron out first... but I like the clean look, and the way it all looks part of a whole, and not 'bitty' in the way phpBB does (for example).

Just a thought.
