Sweet, another Air Force guy :D Have you seen the ABUs?? (YUCK) nothing beats the 2nd phase non iron olive greens, though white T's aren't great for mx work....

Xsorbit huh, I didn't know they were still around. Well it just goes to show that some good can come from anywhere. :D

What was your favorite plane to load up, and your favorite assignment? :D

Hey rickC

Yep I have and I'm glad I don't have to wear them.  I sure loved the non iron olive greens as well.  When we went to the BDU's, too dang much like the Army.

Xsorbit is dead now.  Has been for quite some time.  I think vbgamer45 owns the domain now as well.

I was stationed at Eglin AFB, FL for 8 years and the F15 is hard to beat.  That was also my favorite assignment.  I got to work most of the time in the Armament Laboratory making experimental gun propellant.  That's not something that a munitions guy like me normally gets to do.

Did you fly the SR-71?  Awesome plane!

No, I'm not a pilot. :(
The SR-71 is the plane that made me want to join. Well, it and the C-5(the plane I currently work on). I've seen most the the static displays of the SR-71 across the US including the SR-71 "Big Tail" at Eglin AFB.

I was stationed at Beale AFB, though long after the days of the SR-71, the base is still loaded with history on it. I've read many books on it. I really liked Ben Rich's book "Skunk Works" its a good read :D

Yep the static display at Eglin is in great shape, or was the last time I was there.  I have a time-share in Destin so I go back to the area frequently.

Ahhh yes, the C-5.  The plane that shouldn't fly but does.  I flew on a number of C-141s but never had the pleasure to fly in a C-5.  Now all I see around here are the C-17s out of Charleston.

Yeah, Charleston is the home of the C-17. I think they have 100+, more than any other base... I worked the C-17 airframe for 2.5 years... .Its a good plane, loved it. But the KC-135 is my baby. I hold 2 AFSC's and though I've been at a few bases, it was the plane I worked 1st in both career fields.

I haven't been th SC much, only passed through it a few times... Hows the weather in general?

I spent 2 years on Guam and we had a few KC-135s along with the B-52s.

The weather is pretty good.  It gets really humid in the summer but the winters are usually pretty mild.  Not unusual to only have a couple of evenings below freezing all winter and I've seen it 65-70 on Christmas day.  If you like snow, then SC is not where you want to be.
