Bug= unread topics

If i come to read some new post through link in email message and then go back in boardindex, that
shows there are unread topics eaven there arent anymore. I just read it. And next when i go to messageindex, there are that "new" image in topic what i just read.

Is this make any sense?

It is because the subboard of the board you read has not been read yet.

Hmmm, so i have to read also messageindex and then its marked as read. Thats silly.

No, you have to go into the subboards of that board to get it to say read... PITA in my opinion.

Hmmm i dont get you.... I mean if i come to that topic from notification email link, so straight to that topic. Then it wont marked as readed. It says in boardindex and messageindex that i didnt read that topic eaven i just did.

They have topicseen but not boardseen.

If you click the link to the thread you don't get boardseen.  If you click the new image you do get boardseen.  My vote is you get boardseen either way.

You're not understanding the point of "topicseen".  Let me lay it out for you a bit:

  - boardseen: marks the board read, upon view of the topic, no matter what.
  - topicseen: marks the board read, upon view of the topic, if it's what is making it unread.

I'm going to have to look at this feature.  Topicseen won't set the board seen unless all the other posts are read in the board, so it only works for people who actively use "mark as read" really.

couldn't the topicseen be changed a bit so that it works to mark the board as read only if there's no more new -posted since the last time one loaded messageindex- unread posts in that board?

i'd love a mod/option that marked boards as read when there are no new messages in the board.
ie the "new posts" icon for a board should be on if there are new unread posts in that board.
"the child posts" icon should be on if there are new unread posts in a child board of a board.

seems like a very straightforward rule. maybe it's difficult to implement but seems much more intuitive than the current system, which still makes my brain hurt a bit trying to figure it out.

if no one is working on such a mod, perhaps we will, so any advice about doing this would be welcome..
