This is a messy theme forum

This finding of themes for a new user is very messy, it could be much better organized than now? If you are new (like i'm) you can not find anything in fact because there is messed up version 1 and other versions and nowhere read what is working on what versions etc. I suggest someone put them in own confs or forums, each versions skins and theme. Buttons that everyone request is posted by personal mails instead of sharing them public, why?

I believe i heard of plans to do just what you outlined above BlackMajicWoman.

I think it is something that is in the pipeline and will become available soon as I am fairly sure both SMF staff and volunteers, as well as users have expresed these same sentiments.

This will be a great assett to the growth of SMF.  One of the first things I am doing is trying to find new themes to play with the look of the forum and it is more challenging than I expected!  Maybe using a coppermine connection like at  the mambohut gallery might work?:

A good place to see many of the themes in action would be http://smf.oldiesmann.us/index.php?topic=46.0 although you can also use his theme picker on the upper right under the key stats.

As for which themes work on what, honestly all themes I've installed even onto my SMF 1.1 Beta 1 forum (that is the version Charter Members and this forum runs, while 1.0.3 is the one that is non-beta for non-Charter Members) work without any issues whatsoever.  I have a theme picker at the top of my site at http://miraenda.com/

I've been gradually adding more themes as more become available. The "mid" themes aren't available at the moment (don't ask), but all the others are

Messed up? Preview? Well, you have to do two clicks to find themes.

1. Click on Graphics in the menu on the left side of the screen. When the list appears
2.Click on the first sticky Themes (Skins).

Each theme has preview and most, if not all, have working examples.
My SMF Test Board by Oldiesmann is excellent but I don't think that the main thing that bothers a newcomer is testing 95 or maybe more themes.

SMF has power, flexibility, expandability and an excellent and friendly staff to support and develop it. Although freeware, you get what you want with work and help. All I know is that if I am GIVEN something, I must at least be polite if I want to ask something more. You don't have to beg just show some manners.
