How is the new one going?
« on: November 03, 2009, 09:40:06 PM »
What's up with the new version? The "NEW" version? Just trying to figure out the time I need to prepare my forum. I have been talking about the quality of the Beta and now am wondering when the Beta will come to fruition. All my members love the SMF forum. Bar none. I need to give an answer to them. They have all been thru the others and love the SMF. Can't wait till the new one is ready.

In the wake of deployment here and also to Charter members, RC2 is getting some further tweaking and polish before it gets made public. I gather from the devs that it'll be "soon" though :)

Why doesn't it work? What do you expect it to do?

Any ideas when the final 2.0 will be here?

It depend on how many issues are found in widespread use once RC2 goes public.

Agree with above. Asking a software guy to specify when he's going to be done is a losing battle from the get go. I do it myself, I can't for the life of me give a deadline because it's never going to hold.

It is just tough being a mere mortal in the photography world. I am always waiting for new things photographic to make better images with. Now I am in the ethereal world of SMF software, as a sub-mortal, and feel that I am in a earthly heaven on the first level. I cannot wait for v2 RC2 and I am lucky to have remembered the nomenclature, if I did, correctly.

Ahhh... Arthur, what hast thou wrought in me, a mere scribe in imageric history. A new version of populace interest?

YUP! I hear it's out and I need to understand the upgrade from 1.1.10 to 2 Public. I will search and find my own answer as soon as I can remove my shorts from the stone.

What bits do you need to understand about the upgrade to 2.0 RC2 public?

You don't do it via the package manager. This is a major upgrade, and as such there are no simple packages to install.

The only route is to do a full upgrade - please see Upgrading SMF
