Help With Installing SMF
« on: November 06, 2009, 09:14:48 PM »
I uploaded all of SMF to the appropriate directory, and I went to the install.php.

It asks for server, port, username, and password.

I enter all the correct information except port, because there is no port?

I can connect via FileZilla without a port, but I get an error:

Unable to connect to FTP server with this combination of details.

550 Can't change directory to /home/a5342090/public_html/smf: No such file or directory

How do I fix this?

When you connect with FileZilla, you are most likely using port 21.

Take a look at this topic. http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=340601.msg2293719#msg2293719

Thanks, I'll try that in a minute. I am currently reinstalling SMF.

Edit:

That didn't really help, but I was reading some other post and found out for the location I was only supposed to have /public_html/smf.

Thanks though, everything's fine and dandy now.
