Hey guys,

I finally bit the bullet and upgraded to SMF 2.0 RC1.2

My problem is,   I cant login to the admin area or even logout.

I tried the repair_settings.php with no luck.   I
I cleared the cache, history and cookies with no luck.

Can it be a server issue?

Did you see any error message when logging in or out?

Was it working fine before the upgrade to 2.0 RC1.2? If it was this should not be a server-related issue.

It was working fine before the upgrade.

If i clear the cookies and cache, i can login to the forum just fine.  ...but if i go to the admin page, i get this:

"Session verification failed. Please try logging out and back in again, and then try again."


I cant logout either.

My host tells me is not a server issue.


I even created a test forum and i still have the same problem.

i tried several ways, no luck.  Problem still persists.   I have upgraded 4 times thinking it would fix itself but no luck.

So a brand new install does the exact same thing?

Are you using a custom theme? If so, have you tried on the default theme?

Nope, no custom theme. Just default.

Yes, i also created a test forum with a fresh install of 1.1.10 and still have session issues.

Heres the story....

I was on a "Standard VPS" for the past year.  2 weeks ago i upgraded to a "Dual-Core 1.6 ghz" server.

A few days later, i decided to downgrade back to the "standard VPS".

Thats when i realized something went wrong.   SiteGround tells me is a script issue.  I told them is not,.... that i could create numerous SMF accounts with no problems before the server move and now has login session issues when new SMF since the server account was moved back.

I went ahead and upgraded to SMF 2.0 since my forum was down and yet the issue still present.   I created SMF 1.1.10 in another folder and the problem still there.

Thats why i think is a server issue and not the script.

Well if that is the case this does sound like it is server-related.

You did not clarify the real situation in your first post, which prompt many to believe that you only faced this issue after upgrading to version 2.0 RC1.2.

I think this may have something to do with it...

session.cookie_path   /tmp   /tmp

The cookie_path should be just "/" (without quotes), not "/tmp".  Try changing that in php.ini, reload the web server, then try again.

Funny you say that, after we moved back to the original server, i couldnt add pics to the gallery.  Something about not having enuff memory?

My host changed it to 64 in php.ini
