are meta tags really necessary to be rated by the search spiders and bots??  if so where to you put them and how, im running 1.1.11

Search engines supposedly pay very little attention to keyword and description meta tags, due to past abuse by page designers trying to game the system. You don't need to add them, at least for the major Search Engines. If you do want to go ahead and add some, do a search of this forum for meta and you'll find lots of information on how to do it.
