how do i stop my little smiley avatar being made larger automatically?

my avatar is a little smiley, how cute, but when it is displayed on my profile and in posts it is blown up to a larger size and therefore becomes all blurry.  it is a little animated  gif.  is there any way i can stop this?

Turn off html resize. Its in admin panel, forums settings
