I'm still suffering from not being able to install any modifications to SMF 2.0 RC3. I always get the error "Modification parse error". I've tried all suggestions I could find. I tried making the temp folder inside the Packages folder and gave it 777 permissions, php is not in safe mode, paths are correct..etc. I was unable to install any modifications with a clean install of 1.1.11 so I tried 2.0 RC3 and was able to install one package than everything else gives the error. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I'm the system admin of the server this is hosted on, so I can make any changes suggested.

What mod are you trying to install you have to make sure the mods you install are for your version of smf.

Any mod for 2.0 RC3. I installed the sidespark chat mod than anything I've tried after that hasn't worked. I've made sure they're supported in 2.0 RC3.

I solved this. My ftp details were wrong. then I needed to create a temp file in the packages directory

@ bloodfilledwater - Let's start by taking a look at a phpinfo sheet. (What is phpinfo.php?).

You stated that you installed one mod and then started having the same issues as before.  Have you tried uninstalling that mod?
