Anyone built a site specifically to view on a Mobile ?

Hi

I currently run an SMF forum thats integrated with Joomla as it's portal.

However, when viewed on a Mobile it's Ok but I think most of the members would just like to see the Forum elements only. Consequently, I'm trying to work out if this is possible ?

Ideally I'd like users accessing the site from a mobile to:

1. Use a different url  e.g. mobile.mysite.com
2. Be forced to use a "lite" theme that is automatically applied
3. Use the existing site database

I'm trying to get my head around this to see if it's possible but issues like "paths" comes to mind. Can't remember if these are recorded in the db or just the config file ?

Another issue is ensuring a Lite" template is applied when viewing from a mobile. Again, not quite sure how that can be achieved at this stage ?

Has anyone else implemented something similar ?

Any feedback, advice, or ideas appreciated  ;)

Hi, one thought is to access a lite theme using ?theme=x. But the problem is detecting the various mobile browsers.

If at first you don't succeed, use a bigger hammer. If that fails, read the manual.
