Comparison between SMF 2.0 RC and SMF 1.1.X

I installed SMF 1.1.11 on my website.  I see the references to SMF 2.0 RC[X] but i haven't found anything that compares the two types of installations, i.e. whether I should be running RC versus the 1.1.X board?
