SMF2 bug tracker

I'm doing this as a general public service, for those unaware of or intimidated by the bug tracker interface.

What I will track here, over time, are bugs that are open (all other states other than "resolved" or "closed") against SMF2. Once there are sufficient data points, I'll maintain a chart. All updates will be to this first post. That way the average layman can watch how the bug-squashing is progressing and get a feel for how things are moving towards SMF2-final.

I bet you most of the reason for bugs going up is that they were more actively pushed from the Bug Reports board after I stamped my feet and had a tantrum about it.

I don't think it's entirely fair to run by the numbers though it's about as good as we can get for now. Might be worth including the number of topics in the Bug Reports board as a separate column of 'possible bugs'.

I agree, but until there's a better metric or status-update for the average user to watch, might as well watch this number. I welcome and encourage better info if the dev team wishes to provide it. However, usually when people have asked, the response has been "well you can always go to the bug tracker and check out the open bugs", perhaps with the expectation that most people will be scared away from the bug tracker than actually try and wrestle the info they want out of it. So, here you are.

Arantor

That's why I specifically suggested including the number of items in the Bug Reports board. Between the two will give you the best idea that us mere mortals can get.

CountryLady

Thank you for creating this for us non-geeks with SMF Boards who want to try to get a clue about when the release of SMF 2 Final looks 'LIKELY'. Its VERY helpful. :)

TurtleKicker

Bug count now below 40.

Average bug-close rate: 0.5875 bugs/day

ETA for SMF2 (RC4?): 65 days (not very meaningful, not all bugs are equal difficulty)

So, maybe mid-September. Maybe.

TurtleKicker

Did the open bugs really just rocket up to 55 or did I mess up my query somehow?

TurtleKicker

Back below 50 again. Sorry for the delay, was busy/away for a while.

TurtleKicker

Went on vacation for a while, come back and we're back below 40 again. Hopefully it doesn't shoot back up again like last time, heh.

TurtleKicker

Well count is now below 30 for the first time but progress is painfully slow.

this must be stickied. :P
nice work bro, i see that SMF RC4 will fix millions of bugs..

djohns

It's been 6 weeks since the last update--could we impatient people see how many bugs left?  Getting excited about the progress.

Thanks much
