I've made a copy of my site in a virtual machine on my local PC

Virtual machine is running on W2K SP4 with XAMMP. (Apache 5.3)

SMF version is RC1 and I want to upgrade to RC3
I've downloaded the large upgrade pakket.
When running upgrade.php I have an error message:

"The cache directory could not be found.

Please make sure you have a directory called "cache" in your forum directory before continuing. "

Offcourse there is a cache directory.
I've removed it and made a new one without result.

Because it's Windows I dont expect a permission problem.

Any idea how to solve this ?

can you please explain what was the problem/solution, so others bumping into this thread would benefit too?

CapadY

It was the Settings.php

One way or the other repair_settings didn't fix the cache path

repair_settings.php is still a 1.1x tool and dont have the cache options into it :P
but doesnt mean that you cant use it on a 2.x installation.

Oh yes, you can, but beware of the cache directory :)

The path to the cache folder is hard coded in. So repair_settings.php will have no effect on it.

If at first you don't succeed, use a bigger hammer. If that fails, read the manual.
