Eliminate help tab?

We've put some effort into customizing the User Help to make it acceptable for our purposes but we really can't afford the amount of time required for the task. As an alternative we're thinking it might make sense to eliminate it altogether and instead have the first board on our forum be on how to use the forum, with sticky messages covering the basics. Is there some reason we can't or shouldn't do this? What specific change in what file would be necessary to eliminate the "Help" tab?

The best way to do this would be to comment out the code for the help button.  Attach your index.template.php file for the theme you are using and I can do it for you.  Its just a matter of finding the code and putting /* in the beginning of the code and */ at the end of it.
