Two Forums - one set of users

Hey, I know this has been posted about before but I couldnt find it 

Is it possible to have two seperate forums (different domain, posts, boards) but have one userbase, so that people who register on one have access through that account to both forums?

I would like to ask the same question with different style.

I want two different boards (SMF 1.1.11 and SMF 2.0 BETA VERSION), same users, different MBs) is it possible?
if yes then how?
