Hi, I've been trying and trying to get the Ad Management Mod. I've downloaded it, and saved it on my computer in it's original format. I'm using the most recent Simple Machines. I go to the Packages Installer and I click 'Browse'. I find the Ad Management File. It says the file has successfully downloaded.

I then click Install Mod, and this shows up:

I'm not sure if it's all done, because it says 'Extract File' and there's nothing written in the 'Description'. Then at the bottom it shows this:

So, I fill in all the information and click proceed. Then, it says this:

QuoteAn Error Has Occurred!

You cannot download or install new packages because the Packages directory or one of the files in it are not writable!

What's WRONG???

1. Make sure that you put in the proper FTP information.
2. Make sure that the ./Packages directory is CHMOD to 777

This is a common problem and after one afternoon installing and delete the smf2.rc3 in my host ( linux) i am really upset with my self|!

I am looking to build a perfect forum following all instructions but each time i try to install the shoutbox( ajax) i got the same problem..error 500 etc etc.
This Chmod settings is really frustrating me coz seem to be simpe for the main members of this forum but for me...No.
I try to change the chmod to 777 via Ftp ( only the underlined files ) and then when i open the file permission in smf ( default theme or core theme) still at 755! I also tried to change them in the forum acp but...nada the nada.
why simple  things are so complicated?
Thanks

I have ALL files chMOD to 777:

And I still get this:

:/

Make sure there is a folder inside the packages folder called temp.
And that temp folder is CHMOD to 777

If that folder (temp) is not there just create it and CHMOD it via FTP.

Should I put something in "temp"?

Alright, somehow I got this mod to install correctly:

http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1104

But when I try to find the added button, which is supposed to be this (the 4th picture):

http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1104

Mine doesn't show up:

What's wrong now?

All MOD-settings should be in the menubar.

Maybe yoy have to clear your forumcache

Liam.

Clearing the forum cache may work.

Using the  default theme won't neccessarily work if he wants the mod on a custom theme - but that's why in 2.0 it's easier to make edits to an uncompletely installed package...

It seems that a language string is missing or in the incorrect place...

Feriscool

I have tried in the default theme. I'll try clearing cache now.
