Full install
    Need to install SMF from scratch? Then this is the download you need.

Large upgrade
    Using modifications, or not using SMF 2.0 RC2? No problem, this is what you need.

Small update
    Using SMF 2.0 RC2? This small package will get you up to speed.

        * tar.gz
        * tar.bz2

Which ever you one you want, I would just do the zip as its just easier to unzip. You are going to be unzipping them all in the end.

btw, SMF 2.0 is not more safe than SMF 1.1.x, they are both equal in that category.
