Please anyone here help me to get rid of this problem. I have recently set a smf forum, but i don't know how to restrict guest to enter into certain boards and force them to register first before they can view that board. I want the guests to register first before they can enter in it.
I tried Modify Board option and Unchecked Guests option, but when guest visit my forum the board itself is invisible, so he doesn't know such board exists.

Please help and explain how to create such board.

Thanks in Advance.
Peace...

You want guests to be able to view, but not post, yes?

Admin>Features and options>General.

Check "Allow guests to browse the forum" and set their permissions, per board, to deny them the ability to post.

Or for each board settings : Admin > Forum > Boards > Modify Boards. Set your permission for the boards that you dont want the guests to view and they wont be displayed to them.

Thank you for early replies.
I have tried what you suggested but one thing now happening is that the board itself becomes invisible to guests when i  go to  forum>boards>modify boards> and when i  unmark  the  guest field, then the board become invisible to guests

I want the guests to enter in the board but didn't want them to view the TOPICS,  means they can see all the topics from the board but they need to register before entering into the topics.

like http://gstek.info has  airtel, reliance, bsnl, vodafone board in 2nd category(internet and gprs) you can enter into that board and can see the topics but when you click on those topics it asks for registration.
The same thing i want to set up.

Please help its too complicated for me.
shall be very thankful to you.

Thanks in Advance.
Peace...

This is not a default option in SMF.

Start searching in MOD's. There is one to do this.

Please, don't PM me for support unless invited.
If you don't understand this, you will be blacklisted.

Yeah, that's how it works by default. You'll need to install a modification to accomplish this.

How do you like this?

@ xenovanis, buddy that mod is for SMF 1.X.XX i have installed SMF 2.0 RC3, so please tell if there are some other mods for this version, i want to deny guests to browse the topics from board and force them to register before they can enter into the topic from  the boards. Thanks for reply

Compatible With:
    1.1.5, 1.1.6, 1.1.7, 2.0 Beta 3.1 Public, 2.0 Beta 4

Try this
Admin -> Packages -> Advanced (it's at the bottom right corner of the page)

Emulate to SMF 2.0 Beta 4

If that doesn't work, try searching the mod section for mods that are suitable for you.
