Hey guys, just a few minutes ago I tried to access the forum and got a message telling me that I was banned from using the forum. As I am the moderator of the Turkish Help forums and believed that I did nothing against the forum rules, I thought there might have been another story to it. Anyway I cleared my browser cache and used anonymous proxy to access the page, and now I am here! I think that you guys have banned IP's (Turkish range, I guess) and its causing this. I have heard from a lot of other Turkish users that they got the banned message (even if they had done nothing) when they tried to access the forums. Can something be done about this?

Regards,  ;)

Owdy

There was some issues with this in 1.1 beta x. Houston, do we still have a problem? Related?  ;D

Grudge

forsakenlad,

Do you know what your hostname is? I notice you have a very similar IP address to Midgard, so maybe the same hostname?

Yeah in Turkey there is only one ADSL company so the hostnames are probably similar, the thing is a lot of Turkish users today complained to me that they were receiving the messagge "banned". My host name is: REMOVED Btw can someone delete this host name after it is read. I dont want hackers attacking me :P Also keep in mind that in Turkey most of the ip addresses are dynamic, thanks in advance ;)

Yes. We had banned by hostname not realising that took out the whole of Turkey :o

Yea, I think it sounds like it's the main ADSL company in Turkey.

It's the main ADSL company as Grudge has stated, but it is the company which sells ADSL service to other small companies. So banning that company is like banning the 90% of Turkey :)

I accidently banned myself once. That was annoying... I am a big advocate of trying most things once.

Doh!  >:(

Something similar happened to Amacythe when [Unknown] upgraded the forums to SMF 1.1 Beta 2+.

Well I had a reason, it wrote that I had more than share of my warnings, but I'd never had warnings before :)
