Images not properly posting

So basically what happens is that if I post a image link, I click the image button and msgbox pops up to put link.  So I put the link in.  Press Ok and the image shows inside the msg. (i.e its the actual image, and not nested in [img] tags). 
But when I Click post, the image doesn't appear and the link looks like this in the message

(www.imagelinkhere.com/jpg)

^ with the ( ) nesting the link.

Any ideas whats up and how to fix? (Attached are imgs for you to see what i mean)

Is it possible to disable Pretty URLs?

If so, try that and see if it makes any difference.

No Go on the Pretty URL's still happens.

However when i make a new topic not within that original problematic post - the images work fine.

That is only the image.

However when I add to post

it all breaks

But without that setup it works fine

Ah... I seem to remember someone, here, having similar problems.

Make sure there's a line-break, after the {/quote} tag.

Does that cure it?

Nope there's plenty of breaks between everything and still img from original post still gets nested in ()

There's a mod that removes images from quotes.

That's not what you want, though.

Wonder if those mods might provide clues...

theres probably something in the code that is all messed up causing problems.  I'll have to check it out.  Maybe Ill just save sql and do a fresh smf install
