Is there any easy way to convert a 1.1 database to 2.0 and import it into a fresh install? I have searched around but wasn't able to find anything.

I keep seeing this posted as a response but it does not address the question asked by the OP.

He and others like him are asking if there is a way to take a fresh install of 2.0 and import the users, boards, posts, etc from a separate 1.1 install.

Other responses I've seen seem to indicate this cannot be done.  You have to create a carbon copy of your 1.1 install, uninstall the mods and delete the themes, then upgrade the copy to 2.0.

Yes, that's about the size of it.

Strictly speaking, though, there's no need to uninstall mods and themes.

None of them will work, of course. But, there's no need to uninstall them.

Easier to do the upgrade and then just delete the mods and themes, using FTP.

But what if a mod installed in 1.1 has created a table of it's own in the database, such as the karma description mod? How does that table get removed using this method? What happens to the table if the mod is not compatible with 2.0? Does 2.0 "know" what tables don't belong anymore after the upgrade?

kat

It doesn't.

It won't affect the running of the forum, though.
