Hi,

I'm trying to install the simple machines package, i click install mod, the description for up to 17 actions is 'Test Successful' and that's it  (10 actions have no description).  The guidance shows there's a button available to install the package which i cannot see.

There's an FTP information section available which does not work either.  The rest of the site's fine.

I've chmod 777 all the files in the package directory.

Any suggestions?

Many thanks,

Will.

Hi, Will! Welcome to SMF!

Are you using the SMF default theme?

To get most mods to show on custom themes, you need to edit them, manually.

Details can be found on the mod's download page, just below the download link. :)

CapadY

Did you install any other MOD before ?

The install button is only shown when there are no errors found.

Hi all, thanks for the replies.

I'm and using the Default Theme and thisis the first MOD i'vetried to install.

I have installed other Templates but they are currently not being used.

kat

OK. Let's have a bit more info, with this.

Which mod are you installing?

When you say "There's an FTP information section available which does not work either.", What do you mean?

Try making a "temp" directory, inside your Packages one and making that 777, too.

See if that helps.

CapadY

When you have a clean and fresh installation of SMF is should work. There are some parts in the install script that are not neccesary for a working MOD.

Can you describe which files can't be installed ?

Hi,

I made the temp directory in Packages and Chmod'd it, it's still not working correctly.

Here's the list of files without 'Test Successfull' in the description.

18. Extract File ./PortalStandalone.php
19. Extract Tree ./Sources
20. Extract Tree ./Themes
21. Extract Tree ./Themes/default/languages
22. Extract Tree ./Themes/default/images/sp
23. Extract Tree ./Themes/default/images/admin
24. Extract File ./Themes/default/css/portal.css
25. Extract File ./Themes/default/css/portal_rtl.css
26. Extract File ./Themes/default/scripts/portal.js

Many thanks,

Will

It look likes the package manager is unable to write these file.

What are the permissions of:

Root-directory
root / Sources directory
root / These directory
root / Themes / default directory
root / Themes / default / languages directory
root / Themes / default / images / sp
root / Themes / default / images / admin
root / Themes / default / css directory
root / Themes / default / css / portal_languages directory
root / Themes / default / scripts directory

Besides a permission problem this can also be a ownership problem.

Hi,

The mod i'm installing is SimploePortal 2.3.2.

If I change the permissions to 777 on all those files stated in the most recent post, could this help.

Also, ownership's a concept i'm not familiar with.   :-\

Thanks again,

Will.

That's one to ask your host.

They'll know what you mean.

If you can ask them to confirm that you have full ownership of all the files, on your site, they can confirm.

Ah, that's me.  I'm setting up this Forum as a proof of concept system.  I've setup this forum on a Virtual Opensue server.  It's setup to work within our local network.

Wilo

Hi all,

I chmod'd 777 * all permissions for all the folders you listed.  It looks like the main problem was user error.

Many thanks for all your help.
