bans not working on forum

hi,

i banned this person from my forum but he seemed to come back and create another account is it because i removed his account which i banned from the forum??

He probably just changed his IP. Thats why he made it past the ban. Did he use a different email and username?

Yep, the ban system can only do so much, those with dynamic IP addresses can get away with getting banned, those with static IP addresses have some more trouble getting back in.

no he does not have dynamic ip i know. Same email different username

Well are you sure you are banning the email address?

i banned ip and the ip i banned he registered with the same ip also banned host name.

also is there anyway to change the status of a member on the board like "on vacation" etc..

You could create a new membergroup for that and add them to it.

You can have them change their title or have them request membergroup change and then you can change their membergroup back for when they return.

You might also beable to play around with the Paid Subscription part of SMF.

That would be cool maybe kicked from the forum if thats possible after a X amount of days of in-activity.

Well removing inactive accounts is easy, just use maintenance, purge inactive accounts, you get too choose the amount of days too
