PM from Guest

Hey there, we have a Problem, since a few Days some of our Users get PMs from Guests with "no subject" and no text in it...

What is that?

I searched for it here at the forum but didnt finde anything that could nearly help me.

Would be nice if someone can help us.

Check the permissions allowed for Guests, under Admin --> Members --> Permissions.  If there is a selection in the Guest permissions for sending and receiving PMs, you may want to change the profile you have assigned to Guests.

Curious how the messages had neither subject nor text though. Normally, it's not possible to send a message without both. This sounds like an unpleasant robot at work.

Do as AD says though and hopefully the problem will stop it.

That didnt do it. Guests had and have no permission to send PMs.

What can i do now? Some Users are angry about getting PMs from Guests... :-(

Could this be users that deleted their accounts?

This is weird.

Do the guests have names? Or does it just say "Guest"?

Is it always the same users that get the empty messages, or various different ones?  How many out of your total userbase are receiving them? 

It is weird; it sounds almost like the empty messages are somehow getting injected into the database instead of going through the PM system.  Is it possible a mod(ification) is adding to the wrong place in the db?

Also, I guess it's version 2 of SMF, but which RC number is it you're using?

Hey, i am using 2.0 RC 3, and a lot of our users get the messages, not even a single usergroup or so.

And it says only guest as Name.

On the Message index it Says No Subject - from Notification.

But the text is always empty...

I thought of a Mod too, but i dont know how to find out which mod... :-(
