Simple portalhelp

I got the simpl portal package but when i press install it says "You cannot download or install new packages because the Packages directory or one of the files in it are not writable!" How do i mite it writable?

I have ever thing seett 777 and Sill that same thing happens

Have you looked at the other suggestions i offered besides that? You shouldn't keep everything at 777 as it is not safe.

Did you also make a temp directory ? also 777 ?

Have you tried placing the zipped mod directly into the packages directory via ftp, and installing it from there.
