Hello,
I have what might be a interesting bug, or more likely a user error...
I am running smf 2.0 RC3 with simpledesk (in standalone mode) and treasury and a custom theme. For some reason, it seems to be ignoring guest permissions entirely. No matter what I set, guests get a access denied issue. I could set them to administrator treasury or SMF, access denied. Everything else is working great.
I just set up a test board, and the two mods work great with each other. So it is not a mod conflict, rather something I did.

I think it is either cookie related... (long shot) or as I was typing this post I remembered...

They did use to work, not sure when they stopped. I think I was playing around with a Bridge or two (wordpress to smf bridges) that I couldn't get working, so I disabled/deleted them. Could that be the cause?

Any idea how to fix it without a re-install?

Nothing current enough for me to go back to. If it gets the point where nothing else is suggested, I will export/re-import /re-install etc. I have no issue with that, just looking if someone has a simple answer...

I'm not sure exactly, but have you tried enabling the forum again to see what happens?

Yes I did. Still a no go.
As more time goes on I begin to think it had to do with the bridge that failed...

Are permissions stored in the database or is there a file with them?

Permissions are stored in the database.

Try Admin>Permissions>Settings>Enable the option to deny permissions>untick that.

Tried that, no go.
Weird though, when I enabled permissions to be denied, I go no options to casually deny them, however, in the general permissions area, it said none were denied to guest.

I am guessing permissions work like ntfs permissions in Windows?

What is the difference between disallow and deny in Permissions?

I'm wondering, are you saying guests are unable to see this page?

Because I can see it just fine.

No, that page works as it should. I am referring to another site.
Thank you for the links to the doc pages on permissions. Like I suspected, they work like NTFS permissions.

I personally don't think of them that way, but thats just my opinion.

Did the links help solve your issue, or do you still need assistance with this?

Go to Admin>Maintenance>Check for any errors and repair them

* Kill Em All wonders if this could be a possible bug with SimpleDesk.

"Congratulations, no errors found! Thanks for checking."

Not a bug with SimpleDesk. I tested on a vanilla board and it worked fine. Also, it used to work, however at one point it just stopped working, not sure after what I did. I think it was the failed bridge to my Wordpress site...

Yeah, I'm gonna put money that its a problem between standalone SD and the bridge. Those two are not happy with each other.

Yes, but I removed all traces of the bridge I could find since it didn't work...

I seem to be missing something though. The bridge was applied through wordpress...

Sorry for the delayed response.

Which bridge are you using, can you link us please?

I tried SMF2WP and WP & SMF. Both did not work properly, so I gave up.

Oh... ok. So we should mark this solved then?

Oh no. The problem still exists, I was just clarifying that I am not longer trying to use a bridge as they did not work properly. The problem where the permissions seem to not be taking effect is still here.

Ah, I see. Can we get an up to date list of mods you curretly have installed other than standalone simpledesk?
