Hi. Recently we discovered that animated gifs being attached are:
A) Being converted to jpeg/png (depends on avatar settings).
B) Lost the animation.

Searched other topics and tried the resize attachment mod, it solves the A problem but doesn't help with B problem.

We have disabled attachment thumbnails, and avatar thumbnails are set to jpeg because IE 8 are having real problem with png thumbnails.  Tried to disable resize attachment with the mod installed, too, doesn't help, still see only first frame in animated gif.

So are there mods, code changes, or even diff patches that allow us to show the attachments as is without modification, assuming we as a forum care more for the correctness of attachments then security filters?

As a side note, we are having problem downloading .zip and .rar attachments with IE / Chrome - Firefox have no problem.  Any ideas or experiences?

Thanks.  Tried the if(0) line, it is insufficient, we also need to change resizeImage.  However, if thumbnails are disabled and dimensions are recorded in database, what are the reasons to shove the attachments through the resize & resave functions?  Our (non-technical) users are suspecting it's related with the attachment download problem and is making noise of it.

I'll mark this topic as solved... because it is.  Thanks for the help.
