Hello all,

today my hosting provider have suspended my account and my SMF forum temporary (www.e-compa.com/ht) due to a cache problem that impacted on the CPU/RAM of the server and on Apache making a system restart.

They asked me to find out a cache system in order to reduce the PHP change.

Could you help me in that? Are in SMF any option to prevent this issues?

Thank You

P.S. I'm on a web hosting shared.

Are you sure it is an cache problem ?

Often an overload is caused by chat- or shoutbox software.

You are right, probably it was a shoutbox problem.

I'm trying to resolve on SP Forum (still no answer), but have you an idea if is possible to fix it?

CapadY

disable the auto refresh option of the shoutbox

disable the auto refresh option of the shoutbox

Do you think that a crash can happen also with an hight auto refresh time?

There is one created by feline. It is at the PortaMX site though. It makes your cache works more efficient, I'd say. Others, try checking your settings. Don't put more then one or you can disable it altogether.

I am not sure. I downloaded it from here (which you do not have access). But it is available there and I've heard new version of PortaMX will have that built in too.

Yes .. true .. in the next release of our Portal you can use database caching and we will develop a patch for SMF to do the same.

There is a feature in Simple Portal shoutbox called "Caching". Is it possible to do anything now? In which way will work the patch?

feline

The patch change the SMF file cache to database cache, also the PortaMx caching.
I don't known what do Simple Portal ...
