Looks very appealing though I will add this. Using animated icons for the Unread topics etc., may seems as a good idea though your approach is rather intrusive, that they flicker to fast, really fast. Also avoid stretching your graphics, it takes down the overall look

I agree. In addition, setting the width to your left and right blocks a bit wider will get rid of the scroll bars and also help make pre-mentioned graphics images look better.
