CodeDev

Ok, for the devs and coders out there, here is my (partially) working method/REGEX pattern for SoundCloud, no lookup needed:

$soundcloud_regex
'http(s)?:\/\/soundcloud\.com\/([0-9a-z_-]+)\/([0-9a-z_-]+)';

$message preg_replace'#<a href="' $soundcloud_regex '"[^>]*>([^<]+)</a>#i'
'<div><iframe width="100%" height="166" scrolling="no" frameborder="no" src="https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fsoundcloud.com%2F\\2%2F\\3&amp;color=ff5500&amp;auto_play=false&amp;hide_related=true&amp;show_comments=true&amp;show_user=true&amp;show_reposts=false"></iframe></div>'$message );

Why partially? Because it will convert other non track links, such as https://soundcloud.com/pages/privacy - but hey, it doesn't hurt that much and at least you will have embeded SoundCloud on SMF.

The other solution is to do lookups, like this, for example:
http://soundcloud.com/oembed?url=https://soundcloud.com/gurleensingh/04-know-yourself

Hi All,

I'm new at this so please excuse me if this sounds dopey..

I installed this mod on 2.0.7. pak mgr says mod is installed.

Where are the admin settings for this mod? I looked everywhere!

Thanks in advance / TB

vbgamer45

There should be a settings area in the admin called Simple Audio Video Embdder.

I uploaded the unzipped files into packages, went to forum and installed, forum says mod is installed

Then I moved the files exactly as shown below, ran the url command with my actual info and it opens to a blank page.

I'm at a loss! Did I do this in the wrong order??

http://www.mysitename/myforumname/AutoEmbedMediaProInstall2.php

Move the included file "AutoEmbedMediaPro2.php" to "./Sources".
Move the included file "AutoEmbedMediaPro2.template.php" to "./Themes/default".
Move the included directory "cache" to "the root directory".
Move the included file "AutoEmbedMediaPro.english.php" to "./Themes/default/languages".
Move the included file "AutoEmbedMediaPro.english-utf8.php" to "./Themes/default/languages".
Move the included directory "videos" to "the root directory".

Running that is ok
But you have to make sure the file edits done as well You can upload mod to http://www.smfhacks.com/smf-package-parser.html to find the edits.

I do appreciate your help BUT manually editing into all the core files doesn't sound like anything I wanna mess with.

Anybody out there I can pay to get this up and running???

This Mod is a real do it yourself nightmare!

I've looked around for instructions on how to use this Mod, can't find anything specific and I can't seem to get it to work. I have SMF 2.0.9, using the Sunset theme (edited slightly) and just downloaded and installed this Mod. In the settings I turned on ALL media even though I'm only interested in YouTube at this point. I just get a blank box where a video should appear. http://speakingofseth.com/index.php?topic=83.msg449#msg449

Is there supposed to be an Embed or AV button somewhere?

This is what my link looks like (every time I look at it there are more spaces in it):

No button..

You just post the link to the video.

Make sure you have the video sites checked in the settings area for them to embed

Okay, got it. I was using the iframe embed code from YouTube rather than just a plain link to the video. Working just fine now! Thanks!  :)

Wait a sec. Did you use the package manager to install this or no?

Steve, I did use the package manager and it installed just fine, maybe you can pass that on to Marku. I'm not all that familiar with SMF (I'm learning more every day), if it worked for me it should work for Marku. I learned to not unzip the files, just download them to my desktop and then use the package manager to install them as is. Works like a charm.

Can't install the mod. ./Sources/Post.php failed. Any ideas?

vbgamer45

Another mod edited that file you can try to modify it manually.

This part is missing: '<img>'
Not sure where to add the fully new code or can I just add it at the end?

I installed this plugin to SMF 2.0.9 today and was having the most terrible time figuring out why YouTube links weren't displaying, but Vimeo was. I kept installing and uninstalling different plugins and couldn't figure out what on earth was going on. Chrome wouldn't work. Firefox wouldn't work. Then I opened a page under MSIE. MSIE threw a script security warning and I told it to ignore and display the script, and now YouTube vids will show. I found the unsecure scripts warning on Chrome and got things to work

But this isn't exactly a reliable fix for every forum user.

Is there anything users can do to address this without manually telling their browser to ignore security warnings? Is this a problem that can be fixed on your end?
