from 1.1.11. Is this normal? I can't see anything missing, yet it is showing less posts! We just upgraded last night.

Try recounting all forums and statistics in Admin > Maintenance > Forum Maintenance

I did that. The 7000 posts are still missing.

Did you make a backup before upgrading? What does your error log say?
