Some while back I posted a query,  re unable to send out registration emails. After to and fro with my host we managed to find a round about solution with "sendmail" However it lasted a day and then reverted to type.

After numerous emails and finally a phone call (today) an engineer carried out various tests and concluded that this version SMF 2 (RC3) was constantly being filtered on their server as spam.

Now I do realize that this is a release candidate, so no complaints. What confuses me is that I have not seen this reported before. He tried the latest version 1 and no problems at all.

Here is the report: ( Hoping I have left out any personal info) It's a strange language to me  :o My question is has anybody else experienced this and if so any solution. Thanks..

The maillog entries showing the failed send attempts are as follows:

Testing showed that the sendmail function works fine using other scripts and version 1.1.11 of SMF. It is possible that the headers of the email are not being sent correctly, causing the messages to be labeled as spam.

I may be wrong, but this sounds like a Hostmonster problem, not SMF.

You may well be right. Being a non tech I cannot say either way.  I cannot imagine I'm the only HM customer here, so posted in the hope that someone using HM can verify whether they are having any problems. I know we have some members with their own hosting companies, maybe they could throw some light on the report (either way)

Hostmonster has finally come up with the answer.

It has nothing to do with the version or SMF. The default header when setting up SMF is "my community," as I was doing this on a test board I did not change it. Simple scripts (not sure with fantastico) also uses 'My community' as a default header.

Hostmonsters filters (they say they have had many spam mails) class 'community' or (maybe) variations of it, and trigger as spam.  Just thought I give a heads up on this for those using HM. I changed the header and all is well.
